Russia's 9mm AK: The Vityaz

On Aug. 13, 2013, two historic Russian firearm manufacturers, Izhmash and Izhevsk, announced their merger into the Kalashnikov Concern. Firearms News was the only American media invited and Senior Field Editor David Fortier was in attendance to chronicle this important event. While he was there, he explored some of the weaponry being produced by the Kalashnikov Concern's newest small arms manufacturing alliance. Having originally traveled to Izhmash in September 2001 to test fire the Bizon submachine gun, he took the opportunity to examine how it has evolved over the years into the new Vityaz-SN PP 9x19 submachine gun.
