Smart actions are rules that the user can create individually to define the data logger's reactions to specific events (e.g. excessive flow rates due to leaks in the water distribution network). These rules affect the recording, the transmission and the generation of warning and alarm messages. To ensure fast response times, all operations required for Smart Actions are carried out directly on the data logger. You can conveniently create Smart Actions remotely via the user interface of the server.

Proceed as follows:

1. Open the input mask for configuring the site.
2. Click the "Add" button in the "Smart Actions" section.
3. In the first step of the wizard you can select the desired measurement channel.
4. Continue to the next step of the wizard.
5. Use the "Threshold" field and the "Direction" drop-down list to configure the condition under which the Smart Action should be triggered.
6. Use the checkboxes "Actions" and "Alternative behaviour" to specify how the device should react if the condition is met.
7. Continue to the last step of the wizard.
8. Check the summary and click on the "Create" button.
9. To save your changes, click on the "Save" button below the "Smart Actions" section.
10. Wait for the next connection.

From now on, the device reacts as defined if the measurement value fulfils the selected condition. For example, it automatically connects to the server and signals the alarm.
