Baggeridge Colliery 1900 -1968 had 2 pit shafts nearly 2,000 feet deep.
In its heyday nearly 100 pit ponies spent 50 weeks of each year underground.
Here we see 2 films made just before the colliery closed. One is about the ponies and the other is about the trains that transported the huge amounts of coal away to customers.
