Strong PAOs can contribute to and support the implementation of robust
accounting practices in the public sector, which can result in better accountability and transparency. Finance professionals in public service must have the right skills to deal with the challenges and opportunities ahead. The panel will explore how partnering with the accountancy profession can help the public sector to attract and develop. The session will examine the role of the accountancy profession and actions necessary to ensure finance professionals have the tools to perform in the public sector. This session will also explore the opportunity of collaboration between the public sector and the accountancy profession to build their financial capacity and capabilities as part of the wider PFM improvements.
