Keaton Norris, CJ Wilbourn, AJ Braun and Riley Voss have only been on Wright State University’s campus since late June but they are quickly finding their footing while adding depth to the Raiders’ roster.
“I love the atmosphere here,” said Wilbourn, a sophomore transfer from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. “The players have done a great job welcoming me in and making me feel like family.”
The men’s basketball team has been working out four days a week and lifting weights to prepare for the 2021-2022 season.
“This year I feel like we have a lot of good shooters,” said Tanner Holden, a sophomore guard. “That’ll be a huge advantage for us this season.”
“Everyone’s tightknit, we get along really well,” said Riley Voss, a senior transfer from Cornell University.
Braun, a 6’9” freshman, grew up in Springboro and attended Raider basketball games as a kid. “It took a little bit to really hit me that I’m a college athlete here now,” he said. “I’m grateful for the experience.”
“I’m so thankful for this opportunity,” said Norris, a freshman guard from Hilliard, Ohio. “I just can’t wait to get in the Nutter and play.”
The four new additions will increase competition on the team, but head coach Scott Nagy is prioritizing team-first a mentality. “Every single guy that we have on this team is working hard to make the team first and that’s fun to be a part of,” he said.
The men’s basketball team promoted longtime assistant Clint Sargent to associate head coach during the off-season and added two assistant coaches, Dan Beré from Jacksonville University and Travis Trice from Wayne High School in Huber Heights.
