A very rare and complete surviving Skoda 100L Deluxe with just 20,860 miles from a Main Dealer Skoda showroom.
EQUIPMENT
Bolt-on body parts, front and rear impact zones, chrome bumpers, reversing lights, childproof locks, anatomically contoured seats, flat fold front seats for beds X2, two stage heating and cooling, four speed wipers, velour carpets, three ashtrays, vanity mirror. Shelf space over dash-board, glove box, interior light, dash dimmer, fuel reserve warning light, brake warning light, battery charge pilot light.
EXTERIOR
Finished in the classic Skoda Gold this original example looks striking at any angle. A beautiful deep shine combined with incredible rarity always draws crowds and positive admiration. The undamaged chrome bumpers have a mirror finish and the correct vehicle badging remains intact. The front Skoda badge has a minor crack. The vehicle has been professionally painted as 21 years of showroom polishing wore the original coat thin in places. The Skoda Dealer number plates and rear window sticker are still present. An amazing survivor.
INTERIOR
Being the Skoda 100L Deluxe model the occupants are treated to upgraded seat covers and velour carpets cover the entire floor. The basic simplicity of this interior is fantastic and it remains true to the manufactures design having covered such few miles. The anatomically contoured seats are immensely comfortable but the top of the driver's seat has frayed slightly. The door cards and headlining are undamaged and tight. All the dials, knobs, stalks and controls operate perfectly. Spacious, quirky and preserved.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The four stroke, four cylinder rear mounted engine had a cubic capacity of 988c.c and produces 48BHP. It performs wonderfully and always starts on the button. With a top speed of 77.7mph and 0 to 62mph in 24 seconds progress can only be described as steady but an impressive turn of economy can be enjoyed at 40.4mpg. The four speed gearbox will initially feel vague but after a short journey the floor mounted lever soon glides into gears as familiarity sets in! Exact and true to the manufactures intentions.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
4 ½ J x 14 disc wheels with correct chrome hubcaps. Very minor scuff to one cover. 155 x 14 tyres with decent tread but old. The direct action twin circuit hydraulic brake system offers positive and safe stopping power. Disc brakes at the front and drum brakes in the rear.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Newton Motors Main Skoda Distributors in Ilford, Essex, this vehicle returned to them in exceptional condition after the original owner covered less than 20,000 miles. Kept in the showroom as a static display car it remained pride of place until 2006. An A4 poster on headed Newton Motors paper and produced by a type writer gives a brief history of the vehicle with an important note at the bottom, 'NB NOT FOR SALE'! Only owned by two enthusiasts since it left its sheltered life, one of which was a local gentleman also from Ilford who always promised himself he would buy the car!
All keys are present along with the original Drivers and Maintenance Manual, Workshop Manual and correct Sales Brochure featuring the exact car in the same period colour.
A unique opportunity to enjoy a fascinating, rear engine Skoda with wonderful history and preserved charm.
