TFOS is honored to share our interview with Dr. Claes Dohlman, the "founder of modern corneal science." Dr. Dohlman is among the most honored ophthalmologists in the world. Dr. Dohlman is the founder of the Mass Eye & Ear Cornea Service & the Cornea fellowship program. His accomplishments are extensive, including the development of the Boston Keratoprosthesis, or "artificial cornea". Dr. Dohlman was the Chief & Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School and Mass Eye and Ear from 1974-1989. He is an Emeritus Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School.
