The talk takes up the challenge of Chapter 10. It argues that Chapter 10 was a theological reflection on the part of the prophetic school on the text that had emerged. The text was substantial chapter 2-9. The content of 10 is particularly challenging as its central proposition is the Assyrian threat was the "rod of God's wrath." The idea of God's wrath is difficult for us moderns to understand, but for the 8th century BCE authors it was there way to find meaning in suffering with which they were confronted. Since our world seem no less violent, one wonders how well we find a meaning for it.
