"Africans sold their own people" is a colonial myth designed to shift blame away from European powers who built the transatlantic slave trade.
Africa has thousands of distinct cultures, languages, and ethnic groups. A West African tribe didn't see themselves as the same as people hundreds of miles away.
When wars happened, they sold prisoners of war - enemies, not "their own people."
Think about it: If Ireland invaded Poland, would we say Europeans attacked "their own"? No. But white supremacy flattened Africa into one label to justify this narrative.
Time to stop repeating colonial talking points and learn real history.
