High-Speed Visualization of Flux Coating in SMAW Welding

Описание к видео High-Speed Visualization of Flux Coating in SMAW Welding

Visualization of flux-coated electrode hand welding, also called shielded metal arc welding or SMAW for short, visualized with Cavitar's CAVILUX illumination laser - front illumination. In SMAW welding a flux-coated electrode, i.e. a metal stick or rod, is held in an electrode holder and powered either by alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC). The electric arc that forms between the electrode and the work piece melts the electrode as well as the work surface joining the required metal pieces together. With our CAVILUX laser illumination you can "see through heat and blinding brightness" of the welding and get a detailed view to the core of the process.

This video was taken at 7.000 frames per second by Leibniz Universität Hannover using a Photron high-speed camera.
