Round 15 Class A B and D

A cracking race with both classes showing why Fiesta racing is so watchable. It got a big vote from visiting dignitaries from Ford Motor Company as Gerrad Quinn was quoted as saying how much he enjoyed watching the Fiesta out on track.
There was a true sense of the international, as Belgium drivers Jimmy ADRIAENSSENS and Vincent van PAEMEL were out in the ubiquitous Fiesta Sis (class A). A good showing from both classes. Red lights on then off, and 21 laps ahead on this famous Indy track at Brands Hatch. Good start from Barton and less so by Stirling, but off went Scruton just on the beach but the marshals shoved him out. Off in the lead then was Adriaenssens with at the end of lap 1 the cars of Elsom and West chasing hard and B class cars off Barton, Bateman and Stirling, then Chapman, Tiley, Appleby, Van Paemel, Glover, Beach, Cooper and bringing up the rear after his off was Scruton. Onto lap 2 and Appleby moved up one spot whilst Edwards notched up a net loss after a moment on the opening lap.On lap 4 and the lead was taken by home grown talent as Elsom took a brave move and swept into a majestic lead which was immediately under pressure. Meanwhile, both Barton and Bateman were giving a display of tight close driving with gaps hundredths of seconds. Elsom 'allowed' Adriaenssens back temporarily and on lap 7 was again in front. This was magic racing for those watching. The excitement was irresistible but Elsom found himself passed again on lap 9 and this time the Belgium touring car driver Adriaenssens opened up a gap which was prove a tough nut to crack. Give him his due, Elsom drove out of his skin and all West in the third could only watch and wait and pick up the pieces should either of the leading duo have a mishap. This mishap came around and West found 2nd place as Elsom went out of shape around Clearways. In B meanwhile Barton still kept Bateman at bay and now they had Appleby up into class 3rd to contend with. Closing the laps down to the chequered flag and Adriaenssens now held off West and Elsom to celebrate his first Fiesta win. Barton made it a good B class win from Bateman and Appleby. All in all, a classic race with loads of incidents and good close driving. A compliment to all those who took part.

Class A B and D -- Race 2
Another cracker and as the red lights went out, the eyes were now focussed on West as he slotted into a quick 2nd spot behind Adriaenssens. Elsom played the watching brief now as in B class, (with Barton the meat in the West/Eslom sandwich) Barton again headed Bateman but in class third this time was Chapman from Appleby who had not the best of starts. Another 21 lap race this, and concentration needed to be maintained ! As Adriaenssens got to grips and more familiar with the Indy circuit his lap times crept down and this gave a challenge to West and Elsom. They responded in fine style and did not allow the European driver ahead to get away. This race soon settled down to a close tussle without any overtaking and indeed by lap 10 the order was the same for most of the field. As the chequered flag was shaken out to be ready, Appleby made the last overtake grab on Chapman and did indeed take the 3rd spot in class. Chequered flag and the race win for Adriaenssens and in B for Barton.
