This video is designed for someone starting their Jiu Jitsu journey and covers how to buy a gi that fits for general practice as well as competition. In this video Superare owner, Dylan Lipari takes you through trying on a few different gis so you can get a sense for how different brands might fit you. He also discusses the IBJJF gi fitting rules.

Dylan also demonstrates how to tie a jiu jitsu belt ensuring you go to class looking sharp and that everything stays tight and together

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gi is the uniform worn by Jiu Jitsu practitioners. It is a heavy cotton jacket and durable drawstring pants designed to take serious abuse. Gis can start at under $100 for a beginner gi and run upwards of $200 for a special edition or designer one. For most competitions, you are required to have a white, black or blue one.

To be a good training partner you must wash your gi after every class. Make sure you follow the washing and drying instructions so you don’t shrink it.

A huge thanks to Dylan Lipari and Superare Fight Goods.
