How was this year's DragonCon?
This year's dragoncon was great! Getting to hang out with my friends is always the highlight.
Tell us the process of the creation for your amazing AstroBoy cosplay?
I was a huge Astroboy fan when I was about 5 years old. I have wanted to do this costume since then. I've been seriously thinking about how to do it for about 10 years, but I only started my build in April this year.
OOo process of building? I just kinda tinker with stuff, do a bit of sculpting ... Do a bit of 3d modelling and printing... do a bit of resin casting... Lots of sanding and painting.... Then it is magically finished. I've never been one to overly plan stuff, I just start building and see where it goes.
How did I get into Cosplay? I've always enjoyed dressing up in costumes for parties and Halloween, I was really in to Costume Parties at Med School. I think I got into con costuming because I was looking for other reasons to make and wear costumes.
First cosplay? hmmmm... tricky question. First one I wore at a Con was either Aeon Flux or Tim Burton Catwoman.... But I was doing costumes like Mystique from X men for parties long before that.
Difficult character ?... I go out of my way to do difficult costumes because I really enjoy the Problem Solving! The Cylon Centurion was a really fun challenge, working out how to fit a human within the Cylon shape was great.
I really just do costumes that I'm passionate about and a lot of that relates to my childhood... Astroboy, Splinter, Atreyu, Lord of Darkness, Catwoman, Aeon Flux are all things that I was crazy about when I was younger.
What am I listening to ?...Music? um the Beatles, David Bowie and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are always my Go To music. I really love Weird Al Yankovic, Bo Burnham, and Tim Minchin. The New Muppets Mayhem Soundtrack is getting a lot of play on my Spotify right now!
Favourite movie? I thought that would be obvious from my Costumes, the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth! Stranger than Fiction is an all-time fav, I also love Fight Club and Raul Julia Addams Family movies.
Favourite Anime? Astroboy ! obviously. I also love Captain Harlock, Voltron, Robotech... I'm old!
A scene that left an impression? oh, Atrax drowning in the Neverending Story !!! I still can't watch that without crying.
Bucket list? I'd love to do some work for the Jim Henson Company!
Advice for people getting into Cosplay? Cosplay things you are passionate about, and your costume doesn't have to be perfect. As long as you are enjoying yourself, your joy will make the costume great. And you will improve with every new Cosplay! At the end of the day, it's a hobby that is meant to be fun, so just have fun.
