I have such fond memories of visiting Hungary as a child, and one of my most favorite things to do when traveling through Budapest was visiting the Great Market Hall or Nagycsarnok as it's called here. Now as a local, I don't go to this market that often but when I do I always make a fun day out of it.

I usually go to the Nagycsarnok with specific things in mind. For example, I have my favorite jam lady whom I buy my apricot preserves from. Then there are the fruit vendors whom I like to shop from because I know they have the best tasting selection. And, of course, there are the butchers and deli counters who always have the widest selection of Hungarian specialties.

Spend a morning with me at this monumental market and see what it's like shopping locally in Budapest. I'll buy some meat and fruit, and then wrap the morning up with a strong espresso!
