This time we are hosting Eliška Greplová, an assistant professor at Kavli Institute of Nanoscience at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. Our guest talks about "Understanding quantum matter using Intelligent Machines". In this talk, she shows us two examples of how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to understand and design the complex quantum systems that provide the hardware for quantum technologies. First, she explains how changes in the phases of quantum matter can be detected by AI based techniques, and then presents a practical device that uses machine learning to identify samples with good quantum properties, reducing the need for human efforts, to ensure that our quantum devices can perform at their best.
