Crochet Solid Granny Square:
Set-up Rnd: With first color, make a magic circle.
Rnd 1: Ch 2 (counts as DC here and throughout), 11 DC into circle, sl st in top of ch-2 to join, pull yarn tail to close circle, fasten off. | 12 DC.
Rnd 2: With sl knot of 2nd color on hook, sl st in top of last st, ch 2, [2 HDC in next 2 sts, (DC, ch 1, DC) in next st] 3 times, 2 HDC in next 2 sts, DC same st as beg ch-2, ch 1, sl st in top of beg ch to join, fasten off. | 16 HDC, 8 DC, 4 ch-1 sps.
Rnd 3: With sl knot of 3rd color on hook, sl st in any corner ch-1 sp, ch 2, [2 HDC in next st, HDC in next 4 sts, 2 HDC in next st, (DC, ch 1, DC) in next ch-1 sp] 3 times, 2 HDC in next st, HDC in next 4 sts, 2 HDC in next st, DC in beg ch-1 sp, ch 1, sl st in top of beg ch to join, fasten off. | 32 HDC, 8 DC, 4 ch-1 sps.
Rnd 4: With sl knot of 4th color on hook, sl st in any corner ch-1 sp, ch 3 (counts as first tr), [2 DC in next st, DC in next 8 sts, 2 DC in next st, (tr, ch 1, tr) in next ch-1 sp] 3 times, 2 DC in next st, DC in next 8 sts, 2 DC in next st, tr in beg ch-1 sp, ch 1, sl st in top of beg ch to join, fasten off. | 48 DC, 8 tr, 4 ch-1 sps.
Rnd 5: With 5th color, sl st in any corner ch-1 sp, ch 2 (does not count as a st), [DC in next 16 sts, ch 1] around, sl st to first st to join, fasten off. | 64 DC, 4 chs.
