Speaker: Today in our 2010 Chevrolet Equinox well be installing the Roadmaster 12 Volt Outlet Kit part number RM-9332. Note, thisll be a supplemental outlet kit that could be used for a variety of things, but for this application well be using it for a braking assist on a towed vehicle. This will allow the supplemental power supply to have battery power when the vehicle is not in use. Well move inside the vehicle. Well be mounting our power outlet on the drivers side near the kick panel, just below the dashboard and interior paneling. The power wire will get run over to the passengers side, where we can install it into the fuse box, and the ground can stay here on the drivers side. Theres a manufacturers ground above the parking brake actuator and kick panel.

So well go ahead and split the power and ground wires on our cord and then route the power wire as necessary over to the passengers side. Keep in mind while routing your wire, stay away from any moving components such as the steering shaft, gas or brake pedal. Now once weve got it right over to the other side, we can go ahead and remove the fuse panel cover and locate a fuse that is hot with the ignition off. For this application, the number 9 fuse is a 20 amp circuit that is hot with the ignition off. So I can go ahead and remove the fuse and install a single leg fuse tap, provided with the install kit, over the fuse. Youll make sure that this side of the fuse is hot at all times.

Now with the fuse tap installed, well go ahead and plug the spade terminal into the fuse tap and then Ill bend it over for clearance issues. Now, with our fuse tap installed and our power wire secure, we can go ahead and reinstall the fuse box cover.Now well move back over to the drivers side. Well go ahead and take our ground wire. Were going to go ahead and cut off any excess wire, stiff it back and add a new ring terminal. This ring terminal will be slightly larger to compensate.

Well go over to the manufacturers ground stud above the parking brake actuator. To install it, well first remove the manufacturers nut, install the ring terminal and then re-secure the ground stud nut. Now with everything running secured, well go ahead and check our new 12 volt outlet. Here we have a work light that we can plug directly into our 12 volt outlet and then turn on the switch. As you can see, itll power our work light.

Well go ahead and run a compressor, which will be similar to the supplemental breaking system thatll be used for this application. Well go ahead and plug it in. It turns on the compressor work light and then we can flip the switch and itll run the compressor.Now that we know our 12 volt outlet works, well go ahead and re-install the dashboard into your trim panel and thisll complete the install of the Roadmaster 12 Volt Outlet Kit part number RM-9332 on our 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. .
