Cleaning the Maxwell RSC and troubleshooting.

First, make sure you have powered off the instrument and disconnected the power cord whenever the interior of the instrument is accessible for cleaning and maintenance.

When cleaning the Maxwell only use 70% ethanol, other solutions may damage the instrument surfaces and impair performance.

With one hand, open the instrument door and carefully, but firmly, pull the deck tray out towards you. Using a laboratory tissue, dampened with ethanol, wipe the deck tray.

Do not use a spray bottle inside the Maxwell instrument and never let excess solution sit on the instrument surfaces. If required, wipe down the magnetic rod assembly, taking care not to bend the magnetic rods. Press the plunger bar downwards and wipe the underside. Gently lift the plunger bar back to its home position and push the deck tray firmly, but gently, back into the instrument.

To pack the Maxwell RSC, reinsert the foams in the opposite order in which they were taken out. Insert the foam around the magnetic rod assembly in the orientation shown. Gently press down the plunger bar and rotate the foam into place taking care not to bend the magnetic rods. When it is seated, lift the plunger bar to hold it in place.

Again, while holding the door open insert the second piece of foam. Take note that the semicircle cutout on the bottom is to accommodate the deck drive screw. Ensure the deck is pushed all the way back in the instrument.

Rotate the foam in gently and press backwards. From this angle, you can clearly see the
cutout on the bottom. When the foams are inserted the door will not close entirely.

Disconnect the tablet and place it in a safe place for transport.
