One person is dead and another was taken to the hospital after a house fire on Levan Drive in Painesville.

According to Painesville Fire Chief Thomas Hummel Jr., the fire broke out at around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the home and immediately launched an aggressive interior attack after receiving reports that someone may still be inside.

The Painesville City Fire Department confirmed a woman was found inside the house and pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.
