In search of Alice in Wonderland (Alice Liddell - the inspiration)

Описание к видео In search of Alice in Wonderland (Alice Liddell - the inspiration)

This week, Dawn goes in search of the grave of Alice Liddell (Mrs Reginald Hargreaves) who was the real Alice in Lewis Caroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Dawn finds Alice’ grave in an English Churchyard in Lyndhurst (New Forest), complete with red and white rose bushes in the centre and a lovely ‘Alice’ memorial plaque. Hear the church bells and then get whisked away as Dawn tells the story of Alice Liddell, including how she became the inspiration for Alice in Wonderland. It concludes with Dawn (the prawn) highlighting the intriguing four links to Alice Liddell that Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, pen name Lewis Carroll, has in his books, including one in a beautifully read poem.
