84 VW T3 Vanagon, longer rear wheel studs and wheels.

Описание к видео 84 VW T3 Vanagon, longer rear wheel studs and wheels.

I install a set of longer wheel studs in our 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon T3 so I can screw on a lovely set of wheels to get Georgie looking sharp for Radwood!! This was the final step before the show.

If you've ever wanted aftermarket wheels on your T3, T25, Caravelle, Transporter....... then you probably already know its not quite as easy as grabbing the wheels of your choice and putting them on. T3technique.com has some very good information to read up on and are open to helping as much as they can.

I'd say the biggest stumbling block for most people is the fact that the rear hub has wheel studs, not wheel bolts. These have to be pressed out and longer ones pressed in in most cases, and in order to do that the hub has to be removed.

Hopefully you can see in this video that is not super complicated, a hydraulic press would have made the job a lot easier and quieter, but you can pull this off with a bit of ingenuity and brute strength.
You will need a 46mm socket to remove the large nut, if you don't have an impact gun you'll need a way of holding the drum/hub from spinning, and you'll need a large breaker bar with extension.

I've always loved new wheel day!!! The visual change by the end of the day is always worth the work to me.

Let me know what you think of the wheels. I really wish the van was a bit lower, I think it would have really set it off.

Thank you for watching -, like, comment and subscribe, it really helps the channel grow and keeps me motivated.
