Making A $400 Hammer With Inlay

Описание к видео Making A $400 Hammer With Inlay

This was a challenge I have been eyeing for some time now! I feel like any bladesmith should be able to create his own forging hammer; how did I do?
The Hammer weighs around 4.1 pounds in total and has a nice forward favoring swing to it! It was designed based upon traditional Japanese Dogs Head Hammers along with inspiration taken from the hammer I use on almost every project that was created by Ilya Alekseyev as a Japanese Forging Hammer.
I call this one the ‘perfect hammer’ because it was built with adjustments to the current hammer I use to be the perfect amount heavier along with a slightly less rounded forging face so that I can get slightly cleaner finishes with my forging! I engraved it in the traditional Japanese Technique along with using Hon Zogan and Ten Zogan to add inlaid gold and silver! I also love that wood grain on the handle 😜
Let me know what you would like to see me build next in the comments;
as always, all of my available works and behind the scenes projects can be found on my instagram and facebook pages at Ian Z Forge!
