Leonard Peikoff explains the steps by which one can grasp inductively that arbitrary claims are neither true nor false — from the simple realization that some ideas have a basis and some do not, to the more sophisticated point that arbitrary claims are detached from thought, to the conclusion that such claims are neither true nor false. Peikoff explains the significance of this principle, and shows why arbitrary claims should be dismissed on principle.
