This is getting so bad I can’t believe it’s not just satire at this point.

So, for all intents and purposes, to the human body sea salt is salt is Himalayan salt is NaCl. The trace minerals in Himalayan salt are not at significant amounts. You’d have to eat an enormous amount of salt to glean any benefits from the trace minerals, and there’s actually more of a chance of traces of heavy metals in an unrefined salt like this as well. The only salt that will have a significant amount of an additional mineral will be iodized salt, and we need sufficient iodine in our diet.

The false premise of his whole blood pressure argument is that he’s assuming there’s significantly more NaCl in the refined salt, but because anti caking agents are added, like he even pointed out, it’s going to be about 98% NaCl. Unrefined sea salt will be around 98-99% NaCl and Himalayan will also be around 98% NaCl, because again, the trace minerals are at very low levels. So, will one “spike blood pressure” more than another? No, his assertion that the refined is “pure NaCl” is false and both of these options are going to have similar amounts of NaCl.

Of course, depending on granulation size and impurities some salts may taste slightly different and can be used for different applications from a culinary standpoint, but as far as a health standpoint, salt is NaCl is salt, except for iodized which will have a meaningful amount of iodine.

Buy what you prefer, but this misconception that unrefined has a significantly lower amount of sodium chloride is just false, so it’s not going to help reduce overall sodium content of your food just to swap it. Perpetuating this misconception can be harmful for those with high blood pressure that may think they’re reducing sodium in their diet by just swapping. That’s not the case. Please please stop listening to this guy. He has absolutely no idea what he’s talking about when it comes to food and nutrition.

Also, side note salt is not bleached. I have a couple videos on that myth as well.
