"Pearl": The name Pearl directly refers to the gemstone, symbolizing beauty, rarity, and value. In many cultures, pearls are associated with purity, innocence, and modesty. Pearls are also linked to the moon and water due to their origin and association with lunar cycles. In some Eastern traditions, pearls represent wisdom, enlightenment, and knowledge.

I began to baptize each instrument I am building. The main reason is because of the voice of each instrument too. This led me to choose this name: Pearl. My No.1 rule is to select a name from the country where the set of back and sides was harvested, and this time, it is maple from Europe.

When we started to design this line of four instruments with Guitarsofa, I wanted to bring models with woods I was eager to use. They were my first dealer from Hong Kong who gave me their trust and confidence.

European maple has been used for centuries by violin makers in the quatuor world. It is an incredible material I haven't used before, and this first time is a real treat for me. It is lightweight, strong, elegant, and immaculate. This set was cut in Italy in 2010, and it is a great example of what you could achieve if you use it properly. The chatoyance of the figure, quartersawn cut, is mesmerizing.

Pairing it with an Adirondack soundboard results in an instrument that is as light as a feather. Plus, this spruce is very important, historically speaking, for Martin aficionados (like the European maple for archtop builders, if we stay in the guitar world). I love to use species that have impacted the history of the instrument.

As long as I can remember, I've always chosen mahogany for my necks because it is a huge part of the tone I want to achieve. The entire line of four guitars features Katalox for their fingerboards and bridges because I got astonishing results with this material. The rest of the appointments are on the spec sheet that follows.
