Window Art Project is a space in Inglewood at Elisa Johns’ studio where artists present work in the windows for people to view while walking or driving by. The project began in November of 2020 during the covid shutdowns as a way to contribute art to the neighborhood during a difficult time.



The idea started with wanting to show drive by art during the pandemic. I just started working on a painting of Mount Whitney on vellum. The painting is on 5 sheets of vellum that I thought could hang in each window. Kind of an ode to California during the pandemic. From there I decided it would be amazing to have different artists hang work in the window. The windows are on the corner of Manchester Blvd and Market Street in downtown Inglewood. I’ve had so many amazing artists get involved. Renée Fox was the first and helped me strategize how the project would work. Other artists include Palmer Earl, Helen Rebekah Garber, Sydney Croskery, Kathleen Melian, and Diane Silver. I have upcoming projects in the works with Luciana Abait and Ann Diener. It’s been a privilege to work with these amazing women and live with their art for a time.
