Self acquired property is acquired by an individual out of his hard earnings. it is his absolute property and nobody can claim right over that property. He can dispose the said property as he like. where as a property derived through great grandfather, grandfather and father { three generation} is called ancestral property. With respect to ancestral property, every family member {male and female} amongst Hindus will have equal right and share. Each one's share will be decided after the partition. if they want to sell any part of the property, all have to join and sell.

Where as with respect to self acquired property , if the owner die intestate. That means die without executing the willl, it has to be distributed equally amongst class I heirs of Hindus. In their absence class II heirs should succeed one after another.
