Nigeria’s medical sector is facing fresh disruption as the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) confirms it will resume an indefinite nationwide strike from January 12, 2026. The decision follows the Federal Government’s failure to act on welfare agreements reached after a 29-day strike in November 2025, despite a four-week deadline outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding. Branded TICS 2.0 “No Implementation, No Going Back,” the action will include centre-based protests before escalating to regional and national demonstrations. NARD says unresolved issues include unpaid salaries and promotion arrears, the reinstatement of affected doctors, stalled allowances, and delays in the fulfilment of collective bargaining commitments. Joining us is NARD President, Dr Mohammad Sulaiman, as concerns grow over hospital readiness and patient care once the strike begins.
