Prime Minister Narendra Modi broached a number of important subjects during his address to the nation on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day. Chief among those was the launch of his government’s Gati Shakti initiative – a Rs 100-lakh-crore plan to bolster manufacturing and infrastructure.
The prime minister also launched the National Hydrogen Mission, aimed at making India a hub for hydrogen energy export.
The Taliban marched into Kabul over the weekend, strengthening its control over the war-torn nation even as the U.S. government raced to evacuate its personnel from the capital. The Taliban plans to soon declare a new “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan”.
