Pakenham Railway Station and Main Street Crossing both took passengers for the last time on Friday 17th of May 2024 to make way for a new skyrail station opening June 2nd 2024.
This includes the removal of 3 crossing (Racecourse Road, Main Street & McGregor Road) in a 2.7km span of elevated rail.
Pakenham Station will no longer be a terminating station but will have V/Line services and Metro stopping there. A new East Pakenham Station will become Metro’s new terminus on the new East Pakenham Line.
Last Up (City bound) train departed at 9:28pm off Platform 1 with HMCT Set 48.
Last Down (Terminating and stabling at Pakenham East Depot) arrived at 9:47pm on Platform 2 with HCMT set 32.
There was an Empty train that passed at 10:47pm which was the last train over the crossing and tracks.
Hope you enjoy a little slice of history.
