As it it turns out, that the largest egg on the planet is also the strongest egg on the planet and biologists say that some ostrich eggs can hold up to 400 pounds. Pretty incredible that our egg held almost that much and the pressure never broke it.
So why do you think the egg is that strong?
Well it would only make sense that the biggest eggs go with the biggest birds on the planet and a full grown ostrich can weigh up to 300 pounds. And, like other birds, ostriches have to sit on the eggs to incubate them until they are ready to be born. The eggs must be able to withstand the weight of mother and father taking turns sitting on them for 42 days. So big heavy parents need big strong eggs to make cute little baby ostriches.
