Biodegradable scaffold or Bioresorbable scaffolds (BRS) heralded the fourth revolution in interventional cardiology. They were ultimately designed to overcome the perceived limitations of DES by providing a temporary support to the vessel wall, whilst simultaneously allowing for the release of an anti-proliferative drug to limit the excessive response, in order to potentially allow the vessel to heal and restore its physiological function

MeRes100 BRS - the first thin-tip sirolimus releasing bioresorbable vascular matrix - shows positive long-term safety consistent with low cardiac event rates and zero matrix stent thrombosis for patients with coronary artery disease.

It fully resorbs naturally in the artery within 2-3 years, thus restoring the vessel to its true form and nature. The design of MeRes100™ scaffold addresses the limitations of the previous generation scaffold and in a true sense is the next revolution in bioresorbable technology
