After 3 years since I submitted proof of my speedrun time as Sonic, I now have a full speedrun video of Leaf Storm Act 2 at Record time;
This route is substantially harder as Sonic than it is with Blaze due to these four areas:
At 0:09, going down the bottom route is over half a second faster than it is to take the loop, with Blaze, she can fire hover to the platform easily whereas Sonic has a tight margin (If the jump dash is too early, I hit the above path from underneath, if a bit too late I miss the platform completely).
At 0:24, I jump from the corkscrew to the spring stick; Blaze doesn’t even need to do this and again there is a tight margin as I need to land on the tip to get the necessary height which can easily be missed.
At 0:34, I do a downwards jump to miss the trick ring and not hitting the wall which helps to get the necessary speed to skip the trampoline afterwards and save time; as Blaze she needs the trampoline to get on top of the loop to skip the corkscrew after which is why she takes the upper route.
At 0:50, I jump down to get as much horizontal distance possible, however I cannot see the wall ahead and if I hit it it will not only slow me down but the dash will not go far enough and fall into the pit; As Blaze, to be honest I haven’t tried it as Blaze, but her fire hover isn’t as fast as Sonic’s jump dash so that is yet to try and if it is faster, she could may well get sub-56 for this stage.
