In this two-part interview, the inventor of Pooch Selfie explains how he went from designing his first prototype to being featured on a Shark Tank Episode, with tons of helpful tips for anyone who wants to start their own online business.

Jason Hernandez launched Pooch Selfie in 2015 with funding from a Kickstarter campaign. He was inspired to invent the product by his dog Logan, who would never sit still when he tried to take pictures. And he wasn’t the only one with this problem. Pooch Selfie started selling right away through his online business and was launched to the national stage when the company was featured on a Shark Tank episode.

We talked to Jason about how to start ecommerce business from scratch. There was nothing like the Pooch Selfie before it entered the market, and that presented challenges as well as opportunities. We’ll find out how to start an online store and build a brand for an entirely new product.
