This is Left 4 Dead 2’s swamp nightmare — played solo, with only bots, on Expert difficulty.

Up to this point, I’ve been on a roll. Dead Center, The Passing, and even Dark Carnival all went better than expected. Confidence is high… maybe too high. Because Swamp Fever is the campaign I’m least prepared for — and it’s the first one that feels like it could finally humble me.

The thick fog, endless hordes, and nonstop Special Infected pressure make every chapter feel suffocating. Visibility is terrible, spacing is limited, and the bots are constantly one bad decision away from disaster. Crescendo events spiral fast, and the infamous Sugar Mill finale turns the swamp into pure chaos where survival feels more like luck than skill.

Coach, Nick, and Rochelle are back once again. Rochelle still holds the crown as my best teammate so far, but Swamp Fever pushes every AI weakness to the surface. One bad shove, one missed save, one mistimed reload — and Expert mode is ready to punish it.

This is the point in the journey where momentum doesn’t matter. Preparation does. And Swamp Fever doesn’t care how well you’ve done before.
