Tsankawi Ruins Trail - Bandelier National Monument (New Mexico)

The Tsankawi Ruins Trail is a hidden gem in a detached section of Bandelier National Monument and it's well worth visiting - this is one of the most unique hikes in New Mexico and in the Southwest US!

The 1.5-mile-long Tsankawi Ruins Trail is not too well known or very frequented due to its remote location, but it's incredibly unique as it takes you along ancient paths and unexcavated ruins of an ancient Pueblo. The hike is rated moderate but is easy for kids to do. You'll just want to keep an eye on your kids around a few spots. Some areas require minor rock scrambling.

⚠️ If you have fear of heights - be aware that climbing 2 ladders is required on this hike.

Access: the location is remote but easily accessible on a paved road.
