Our production line is designed to simulate the sorting of objects (boxes) based on their size.
Firstly, a pallet of six boxes is placed near KR16. Four of the boxes are ‘good’ boxes – they are the correct length. Two of the boxes are ‘bad’ boxes – they are too short. All the boxes are of the same width. KR16 then uses a pneumatic forklift actuator to pick up the pallet. It then moves and places the pallet on the loop conveyor.

The pallet moves around the conveyor until it is in position near KR15. KR15 then uses a suction cup to pick up the first box. It moves and places the box in a specially designed ‘paddle-box.’ The box is then sorted using two IR sensors and two pneumatic cylinders. A ‘good’ box will trigger one of the IR sensors and this will cause one of the pneumatic cylinders to push the box into the good area. If neither of the IR sensors are triggered the box is ‘bad’ and will be pushed into the ‘bad’ area by the other pneumatic cylinder.
