NSW DPI is trialling personal shark deterrents as part of the $16m Shark Management Strategy. Personal shark deterrent devices are designed to reduce the chance of a shark interaction or bite to an individual. They can be worn by an individual or attached to surfboards.
As part of the NSW Shark Management Strategy, DPI funded independent testing of five commercial devices to test their effectiveness.
This video shows a snapshot of the results of these tests for the following products - Ocean Guardian Freedom+ Surf, Chillax Wax, Rpela, SharkBanz surf leash and SharkBanz bracelet.
