DIY step-by-step for a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W205) – Right Mirror Indicator replacement.

What you’ll need
• Replacement right mirror indicator unit (W205 compatible)
• Plastic trim/pry tools (non-marring)
• Torx drivers (typically T10/T15/T20)
• Small flat screwdriver (optional)
• Gloves + masking tape (to protect paint/glass)
• Microfibre cloth

Safety & prep
1. Park safely, handbrake on, wheels straight.
2. Ignition OFF → lock the car and leave it 10–15 minutes so all control units fully power down (helps avoid spurious errors).
3. (Optional but safest) Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid shorts while working near wiring.
4. Put masking tape around the mirror cap edges to protect paint.

Step-by-step

1) Remove the mirror glass
1. Tilt the mirror fully inward and downward via the switch to create a gap at the outer/top edge.
2. Wearing gloves, insert a plastic pry tool behind the glass at the outer edge and gently lever to pop the first clip.
3. Work around the perimeter to release the remaining clips. Support the glass so it doesn’t fall.
4. Carefully unplug the two heater spade connectors (and any extra plug if your glass is auto-dimming). Set the glass somewhere safe on a soft cloth.

Tip: Go slow—mirror glass clips can be tight. Only use plastic tools, not metal.

2) Remove the mirror cap (painted cover)
1. With the glass off, you’ll see the inner tabs of the mirror cap.
2. Use a plastic spudger to release the lower and inner tabs (start at the lower inner corner closest to the car).
3. Once tabs are free, slide/lift the cap off. Don’t force it—feel for each tab and release in sequence.

Some trims have a small Torx screw or two securing the cap from underneath. If you see any screws, remove them first.

3) Remove the old indicator unit
1. The indicator strip sits along the outer edge of the mirror shell.
2. Unplug the indicator’s connector (small locking tab—press to release).
3. Remove the Torx screws (usually 2–3) holding the indicator.
4. Slide the indicator unit out of the mirror housing.

4) Install the new indicator
1. Position the new right-side indicator in place.
2. Refit the Torx screws (snug, not over-tight—small screws into plastic).
3. Reconnect the wiring plug until it clicks.
4. Check that no wires are pinched and that the loom sits naturally.

5) Refit the mirror cap
1. Hook the upper edge, then press around the perimeter to engage all tabs in sequence.
2. If your cap had screws, reinstall them now.

6) Refit the mirror glass
1. Reconnect the heater spade connectors (and any extra plug) to the glass.
2. Align the glass with the motor plate and press firmly at the center, then around the edges until all clips click in.
3. Wipe off fingerprints.

Test & reset
1. Reconnect the battery (if you disconnected it).
2. Turn ignition on and test the right indicator, hazards, and mirror heaters.
3. If a warning remains, lock the car for 10–15 minutes to allow control units to power down and self-clear.
• Persistent warnings may need clearing with a scan tool (OBD/Star Diagnostic) or point to a wiring issue.

Troubleshooting
• Still no blink? Check the new unit’s connector is fully seated and pins aren’t bent.
• Hyper-flash or error message persists: Inspect the mirror wiring for damage/corrosion, especially where the loom flexes.
• Cap won’t sit flush: A tab isn’t seated—remove and refit, working around the perimeter.
• Glass vibration or rattles: One or more glass clips didn’t seat—press firmly at each quadrant until you hear/feel a click.

Helpful notes
• Work in mild temperatures; cold plastic is brittle.
• The indicator units are side-specific; verify you have the right-hand unit for W205.
