"Pocket hand is how I teach my dog to heel with an upright head and excellent position.
As a bonus, it also teaches fronts, which you can see here! Dice knows to use my hands as a guide, and to keep his rear in line with his front. Hence...straight fronts via pocket hand, which I taught in heel position.
First teach with the handler pivoting, as you see here. Then add a sit. The last step is to move into your dog, which is what you see here. For dogs of a softer temperament I wouldn't teach that piece at all. Instead, I would focus on the rotation in both directions and "finding" the position after a cookie is thrown.

The workshop is suited to both absolute beginner teams (dog and/or handler) and is also appropriate for advanced teams that want to clean up their heeling, especially left turns!
