Silvertone 1484 Twin Twelve Reverb Upgrade

Alright - the Silvertone 1484 spring reverb upgrade.

We all have come across ads for these amps that go something like, “you know what this is, Jack White, Beck, incredible tone, but as usual, the reverb is trash or “unusable”.

Someone was kind enough to show me this years ago, and so I’m going to share it with you all here.

This upgrade uses the 6CG7 reverb driver tube to drive a Fender reverb transformer part number TF22921 into a short Accutronics tank (model #1AB2B1B), and then recovers that reverb signal into Channel 1 of the amp, giving you Volume, Bass and Treble controls over the reverb, while keeping the original “mix” function of the reverb depth control.
