I made this fretless gourd banjo during the great lockdown of 2020. I had no idea what I was doing, and had a very limited skill-set (and tool-set) to pull from, but I managed to make something playable! I started reading a book about the history of the banjo this summer--“Well of Souls” by Kristina R. Gaddy (highly recommended, if you’re into such things). It's made me want to take "Gourdy" down off the wall more often. September 2024. gDGBD tuning (down 1/2 step).
