Stan Freberg, Daws Butler & Sandra Gould for CONTADINA TOMATO PASTE

Описание к видео Stan Freberg, Daws Butler & Sandra Gould for CONTADINA TOMATO PASTE

These are the 1st set of commercials Stan Freberg created (in 1958) for CONTADINA TOMATO PASTE.

The 1st (and longest) is PIZZA ANYONE? It features the voices of Daws Butler and Sandra Gould (sadly, I hastily included misleading pics of June Foray in the video, rather than pics of Ms. Gould!). Daws, of course, later came to greater fame as the voice of Yogi Bear, Elroy Jetson, Huckleberry Hound, Quick Draw McGraw, Baba Looey, Augie Doggie, Snagglepuss, Reddy (from Ruff & Reddy), both Mr. Jinx and Dixie (from Pixie & Dixie), Wally Gator, Peter Potamus, Cap'n Crunch and many, many other characters. In fact, it's his Cap'n Crunch voice that he uses on this track, a voice based on the voice of actor Charles Butterworth, and used for other characters many times previously. As for Sandra Gould, she is perhaps best known as the 2nd "Mrs. Kravitz" on TV's Bewitched.

The remaining tracks - CHINESE COOK, TOAST OF BROADWAY and TASTE SURVEY - feature Butler and Freberg, who also worked famously together years a few years earlier as puppeteers and voices for Beany & Cecil on young Bob Clampett's early puppet TV show, "Time For Beany".

Freberg, of course, would go on to create far cleverer work than this, both for Contadina and others, but - as these tracks do not currently seem to appear elsewhere online - I thought it important that I make them available.
