Belgrade's Chinese community took to the streets on Saturday to protest at the NATO bombing of the Chinese embassy in the capital.

About 500 Chinese were joined by other Belgrade residents.

Belgrade has a Chinese community of around one thousand - half of which took to the streets.

Chinese demonstrators rallied in the centre of Belgrade on Saturday, protesting at NATO's bombing of the Chinese Embassy in the Yugoslav capital.

Crowds of protestors from the Chinese community marched in the streets, chanting slogans and waving Chinese flags.

Chinese demonstrators were joined by Belgrade residents in their calls for a halt to NATO action.

Chinese demonstrators joined their government in accusing the United States and NATO of war crimes.

Protests also took place on Saturday in the capital Beijing, where crowds of angry students attacked the U-S Embassy with rocks.

Earlier, China called an emergency meeting of the U-N Security Council to condemn the attack.
