Boris Sabaneyev (1880 - 1918) - Canzone Phrygien op.4
Russian composer, professor of organ who was always in the shadow of his brother Leonid - rather well known pianist, musicologist composer, critic
This Canzone( dedicated to his dear teacher S. Taneyev) is one of his three ever published works
It contains a whole pack of canonic stretto counterpoint masterful work of the first, very simple modal song-like subject development with an additional ,eights movements, second theme and them connecting them together close to final section

It's known that he left only 8 works ( Dorian Fugue , Fugue in es-minor extremely complicated - also there is an author's piano version ) other works are unpublished

My recording is unique - there are only TWO performances of this polyphonic modal masterpiece in public space. Never had been performed at real concerts
