Here we will convert the Canon 40D to 720 nm infrared.
Take out all batteries and the memory card.
Remove all the rubber covers.
Unscrew all the outside screws.
Disconnect the ribbon cables and remove the back panel.
Disconnect the flash cable.
Remove the front panel.
Disconnect the flash cables. Be careful, as those cables are connected to the flash capacitor.
Take off the top part.
Unscrew the logic board screws.
De-solder the two metal shields.
Remove the logic board.
Unscrew the sensor screws and remove the sensor.
Remove all filters from the black frame.
Apply 3M double-sided tape and attach the infrared filter.
There is an ultrasonic resonator attached to the black frame.
I cut it out from the first filter.
Place the sensor back into the camera and use 0.5 mm shims or washers to shift the sensor backward.
Reassemble the camera.
Ensure you connect the flash cables correctly. The red plug must go into the red socket, and the yellow plug must go into the yellow socket.
Be careful, as those cables may still hold a charge from the flash capacitor.
The conversion is complete.
