In 1922, a remote farmstead known as Hinterkaifeck in Bavaria, Germany, became the scene of one of the most chilling unsolved crimes in European history.

Six people from the #Gruber family were brutally murdered with a mattock. Strangely, evidence suggested the killer may have remained on the farm for days after the murders feeding the animals, eating meals, and moving freely through the house.

Before the killings, the family reported footprints in the snow leading from the forest to the farm but none leading away, unexplained noises in the attic, and missing keys. Despite multiple suspects and investigations spanning decades, no one was ever charged.

To this day, the identity of the Hinterkaifeck killer remains unknown, making it one of history’s most haunting true crime mysteries.
