Birds of the Daintree

Описание к видео Birds of the Daintree

I made this movie back in 2004, pretty much at the beginning of fully digital production methods. After a few trips to Cape York and the Daintree region, I had literally hundreds of clips of birds that flew past or were able to be filmed. I had no idea of their species and marked the clips as "blue bird" and "long neck" etc. to be able to identify them. I realised they were pretty useless for most of my production work so when it was suggested to me I turn it into a birdwatching video I thought why not? I contacted a birdwatching expert by the name of Chris Dahlberg, told him of my plan and asked if would be prepared to be the onscreen narrator. He agreed and was a natural in front of the camera. So much so that pretty much every take was a first take when filming him. The movie itself is great if you are a birdwatcher and not too bad if you just want to check out the rainforest scenery. I submitted it to the International Wildlife Film Festival and received an "Honorable mention for diversity of species." It was the only thing I ever entered and given I got this award I thought I would quit whilst I was ahead with the perfect record of one for one lol. Anyway, enjoy the movie and keep in mind that this film was made with a budget of zero!
