Shri Lakshmi, the divine consort and dynamic energy of Lord Vishnu, is venerated by Hindus as the goddess of abundance, fortune, wealth, and success, encompassing both material and spiritual dimensions.
She is depicted in vibrant red attire, adorned with exquisite gold ornaments. Her visage radiates peace and calmness, and she is consistently shown holding a lotus, which symbolizes her essence of beauty. The four hands she possesses signify the four essential pursuits in human existence, which are of great importance in Hindu philosophy: Dharma (righteousness and duty), Kama (worldly desires), Artha (wealth and prosperity), and Moksha (liberation). Her hands are often open, and at times, coins are illustrated flowing from them, representing her role as the giver of wealth and abundance.
She is frequently illustrated seated or standing on a lotus within a magnificent garden or against the backdrop of a vast blue ocean. Surrounding her are either two or four majestic white elephants, performing a ritual known as 'Abhishekam' by anointing her with water. Her divine vehicles, referred to as 'Vahana', include the white elephant and the owl.
