The Outer Ring Road (ORR) project in Hyderabad was a significant undertaking that took many years to finish.

In-depth surveys and planning were done for the project in the late 1990s in order to determine the alignment and layout of the motorway.

For the project, the government had to negotiate with landowners and pay them compensation in order to purchase thousands of acres of property.

Extensive earthwork, including excavation, filling, and levelling of the land, preceded the 158-kilometer main carriageway's construction. Also, the foundation was built utilising a variety of methods, including pile, well, and open foundations.

A number of interchanges, underpasses, flyovers, and toll plazas were built as part of ORR.

Four-lane concrete pavement, stormwater drainage, side drains, and culverts were all installed during the ORR's construction to guarantee a smooth and secure flow of traffic.

Along with the installation of lamps, median barriers, and countless trees, it also involved considerable landscaping and cosmetic work.

Construction of the ORR was finished in stages and inaugurated as shown below.

14 Aug 2011: Gachibowli to Patancheru 23.7 km
03 Dec 2012: Patancheru to Shamirpet 38 km
04 Mar 2015: Pedda Amberpet to Ghatkesar 14 km
15 Jul 2016: Ghatkesar to Shameerpet 23 km
